Two Head Football Coaches Named in District 214
Both Buffalo Grove and Wheeling high schools have named a new head football coach for next season. Michael DiMatteo, former head coach at Hinsdale Central High School and most recently, assistant coach at Glenbard West High School, has accepted the position at Buffalo Grove. Wheeling Wildcat Boxing Club Offers Encouragement and Financial Support to Countryside Association
During winter break, several current and former members of the Wheeling High School Wildcat Boxing Club, along with club sponsor Michael Burke, assistant coach Chris Sacco, and Project Lead the Way instructor Jeff Bott, traveled to the Countryside Association for People with Disabilities in Palatine. The group's purpose in visiting was to both present a check for $1,500 from funds raised during the club's Fight Night on Oct. 29, and to perform a few hours of volunteer work.

Wheeling High to Screen Magician Movie, Starring Class of 2007 Alum, Bill Cook
Wheeling High School will present a showing of the movie, "Make Believe, The Battle to Become The World’s Best Teen Magician," in the school theater at 7 p.m. on Monday, Feb. 6. The film stars Bill Cook, WHS alum (Class of 2007) and professional magician. "Make Believe" takes a look at adolescence through magic, following six of the world’s best young magicians as they pursue the title of Teen World Champion.

Scarpino Inducted into Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame
District 214's Bob Scarpino, counselor at Wheeling High School and basketball coach at John Hersey High School, was recently informed of his selection into the Illinois Basketball Hall of Fame in the "Career Coach" category, as announced by the Board of Directors of the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association.
Hall of Fame Committee Chairman Chuck Rolinski commented to Scarpino in a letter of acknowledgement, "It is a distinct honor to be enshrined with the other people
