Wheeling High to Host 14th Annual Hometown Celebration
At its Friday, Sept. 10, home football game against Palatine High School, Wheeling High School will host its 14th annual Hometown Celebration of the communities which make up its student body: Wheeling, Arlington Heights, Buffalo Grove, Prospect Heights, Northbrook, and Mount Prospect. At halftime, select community members and/or organizations that have a history of supporting the school will be recognized, as well as this year's Distinguished Alumni.

Wheeling Middle School Engineering Program Continues for Third Year
This fall Wheeling High School will begin the third year of its middle school engineering program – Project Lead the Way (PLTW) Gateway to Technology (GTT). During the previous two school years GTT has been piloted with District 21’s London and Holmes Middle Schools, offering three different engineering courses, and this year it is looking to expand the offering to more students in our enrollment area. Courses offered will be Design and Modeling, Magic of Electrons, and Automation and Robotics.

Wheeling Educator Presents Summer Workshops to School Teachers in Angola
Wheeling High School's community service club, "Interact with Africa," in partnership with other high schools, recently contributed financial resources to help build a school in rural Angola, Africa. The school was under construction this summer and will be ready to open in early September of this year.

School Security
To better protect students, staff, and visitors, a credential exchange program will be implemented at all District 214 buildings during school hours. All visitors will be required to present a valid driver’s license or another government issued photo I.D. in exchange for a visitor’s badge. Your driver’s license will be scanned into a visitor management system, which screens for registered sex offenders. A visitor’s badge with your photo will be printed for you to wear while inside the building.
