WHAT IS A CERTIFIED AND LICENSED ATHLETIC TRAINER?
An Athletic Trainer certified by the National Athletic Trainers' Association Board of Certification and licensed by the state of Illinois, is a highly qualified paramedical professional, educated and experienced in dealing with the health care problems associated with sport.

Wheeling High School has been using computer nuero-coginitve concussion testing since 2002. Our goal is to return the athlete back to activity as safely as possible.

The certified and licensed athletic trainer works under the direction of a licensed physician when practicing in the state of Illinois.  

The WHS students athletic trainers work under the direction of the certified athletic trainers.
 

 

ATHLETIC TRAINING AT WHEELING HIGH SCHOOL

• prevention of athletic injuries through preseason testing, equipment fitting, and advice to coaches on off-season developmental programs
• recognition and evaluation of athletic injuries?
• rehabilitation of athletic injuries through the use of exercise and various hot, cold and electrical modalities
• education and counseling of athletes about various issues related to health, sport and exercise
• student trainer, coach and public education

This form should be filled out by the injured or ill athlete's physician and should be returned to a member of the Athletic Training Staff
