Wheeling High School's Orchesis, has been selected to perform in Dance Chicago for the 11th consecutive year.   Two dances will be performed in the Nov. 17th show at the Athenaeum Theatre in Chicago.  

     "Fio-Fio Fioletta," choreographed by former River North dancer, Brandon DiCriscio, will be performed by nine Wheeling dancers.   "dopp/DROP," by Lucky Plush dancer Marc Marcaranas, is the first men's trio set on Wheeling's Orchesis members.

     Dance Chicago began in 1995 as an audience development project for Chicago dance and drew wide attention from audiences and critics alike. After 12 successful years, the event has become the most important celebration for Chicago's large and diverse dance community in the performing arts year.  Dance Chicago provides the entire Chicago metropolitan area dance organizations a chance to exhibit their best work on a major Chicago stage to large audiences.

Wheeling Dance Program Named to National Honor Society of Dance Arts

Wheeling High School's Dance Program is proud to announce it has been selected for Membership in the National Honor Society of Dance Arts (NHSDA).  All students in the program may be accepted as members of NHSDA, and seniors will be eligible for honor status in the organization, as well as scholarship opportunities.  The primary mission of the NHSDA is to promote and honor outstanding achievement for academic excellence, leadership, and artistic merit.
 
The summer of 2012 Dancers worked for the 19th year on Chicago's Dance for Life.  Orchesis members participated in this year's opening with Dean Richards sporting the T-shirts spanning the history of Dance for Life.   This was the 21st anniversary of Dance for Life and Wheeling Orchesis is honored to have been an integral part of the production of the event for all these years.

Wheeling High School has been named a Kennedy Center School of Distintion by the Illinois Alliance for Arts Education.  The award was received in a ceremony March 19, 2009
