was inducted at half-time of the varsity basketball game on Friday, February 18, 2011.

Jon A. Hittman - Athletics and Coaching
Jon Hittman was both an outstanding athlete and coach at Wheeling High School. As an athlete, Jon played football and baseball for four years, and swam for two years. In football, he was named to the all-conference team his junior and senior year. Jon was also named the team captain his senior year. In baseball, he was named to the all-conference team his junior year. While at WHS, Jon was the embodiment of the student athlete. He graduated in the top 10% of his class and was a member of the National Honor Society. Jon attended Northwestern on a football scholarship, after which he returned to District 214 as a teacher and coach. From 1979-1982, he was the head football coach at Wheeling High School. His teams were very competitive in the MSL and in 1981 he was named the Mid Suburban League Coach of the Year.

Betty O’Conor - Friend of Athletics
Betty O’Conor was one of the most involved and supportive parents at Wheeling High School. From 1976-1987, Betty was a fixture at many athletic events at Wheeling. In that time, Betty attended golf matches, swim meets, track and field meets, basketball games, tennis matches, badminton matches, baseball games, and football games to watch her seven children compete for Wheeling. In addition to supporting her children, Betty was a key member or the Wildcat Spur Club, the athletic booster club. She helped organize fundraisers, coordinated team pictures, sold concessions, and helped establish the hospitality room at the Hardwood Classic as the best in the state. Betty spent countless hours supporting Wheeling High School and its athletic programs.

Mark Saylor - Coaching
Mark Saylor spent 35 years teaching and coaching at Wheeling High School. In his 35 years, Mark coached boys’ and girls’ cross-country, along with boys’ and girls’ track. In cross-country, he helped make Wheeling’s program one of the best in the state. His overall combined record in cross-country was 145-65. He coached numerous conference, regional, and sectional runners. Mark guided 39 runners to All State finishes and he coached 5 individual state champions. In 2001, his girls’ team finished 2nd at the I.H.S.A. State Cross Country Meet. His 1997 boys’ team finished 3rd in the state, and in 1998 Mark’s Wheeling Wildcat boys’ cross-country team won the state championship. In track and field Mark’s teams were also amongst the best in the state - winning 242 meets during his tenure. He coached 166 state qualifiers, 56 state medal winners, with 8 individuals winning state titles. His teams won 12 Mid Suburban League championships, including a record 11 in a row from 1979-1989. The Wildcats also finished 2nd at the I.H.S.A. State Track and Field meet three consecutive years from 1985-1987.

Amy Siegel Conversa - Athletics
Amy Siegel was an outstanding cross country and track athlete at Wheeling High School. In cross-country, she was a two-time conference and regional champion. Amy was also a three-time All-State runner. In 1989 she finished 8th in the I.H.S.A. Class AA meet, and in both 1990 and 1991 she finished 2nd. In track and field, she was a three-time conference and sectional champion. Amy was also a four time state medalist. At the 1990 I.H.S.A. track and field state meet Amy medaled two times. She was 5th in the 1600 meter run, and finished 2nd in the 3200 meter run. In 1991 Amy again medaled twice at the state meet. She finished 2nd in the 1600 meter run, and Amy was the State Champion in the 3200 meter run for Class AA.
