Village of Wheeling is Sending strong Message to Parents about Underage Drinking:
Are you familiar with the term social hosting? Social hosting occurs when parents or other adults provide alcohol to those under the age of 21. While we recognize that most parents know that social hosting is dangerous and illegal, social hosting still does occur. This past December, the Village of Wheeling passed a strengthened social hosting ordinance that includes a $1000 fine. Parents do not need to be present to be given a social hosting ticket. Community adults are ultimately responsible for their property and the actions that occur there. The Link Together Coalition, which provides drug and alcohol prevention programming in our communities, has partnered with our local law enforcement departments to develop an outstanding PSA on social hosting. You can check out the PSA by clicking here.
