2007 - 08 Season!
Welcome to the Freshman Girls Basketball webpage! We're excited to be working with this group of incoming freshman! Make sure you sign up for summer camp before the deadline to avoid being charged a late fee!
If you want to be a good basketball player for the Wheeling Girls Basketball Program, then it's a good idea to come to camp each year you're in high school! For freshmen, it's a good opportunity for the girls to meet some of the coaches, learn a few of our basic offensive and defensive sets, and start to understand the concepts and philosophies that have put Wheeling High School center stage when it comes to girls basketball in Illinois!
As coaches, we want YOU to be on one of our winning teams in the near future and to be a leader on and off the court. Do you have what it takes to continue what Laura Joya, Lindsay Lewis, and Nikki Preston started? They started off as freshmen just like you will and worked hard to be a key contributor when they got to Varsity.
The freshman are in a Summer League at Lake Zurich and Mundelein High School. The first day of camp, coaches will talk to the girls about which games they should come to. We don't want more than 10 girls coming to a game since it will be hard to get a lot of playing time. Click on the "Freshman" calendar to the left of the screen to get the freshman summer league schedule. Also, directions to Lake Zurich High School can be found on the "Directions" link to the left as well. These dates are tentative and times will be determined as we get closer to the summer.
