Disease Status Report Name:
For the
past week or so, you have been doing preliminary research on a particular
disease. The purpose of this
research has been to familiarize you with the current status of your disease by
skimming through the papers and articles that have been recently written by the
experts. You should have the
following things at your disposal:
1. A
search plan in the form of a simple database
2. A
list of search terms
3. An
understanding of how to use the medical database in the library.
You will be submitting a status report on your disease
that explores one of the major issues related to your disease.
¥Typed, double-spaced, 12 point, Times New
Roman font, 1 inch margin, left margin alignment. 4-5 pages in length.
¥It will need to begin with an introductory
paragraph that briefly explains the issue that you have chosen to explore and
declares YOUR opinion (the side of the issue you agree with).
¥You will need to then argue three main
points that support your opinion.
Each point should be explained and discussed in its own paragraph. The explanation will need to be
supported by examples and statistics.
¥Finally, you will need to draw your own
conclusion about what you foresee in the future in regards to this issue and why
you predict that outcome. You will
need to support your projection with appropriate examples and statistics.
¥You will need to provide internal citations
as well as a full bibliography (works cited) of your sources.
¥You will need to provide a copy of your
search plan and your rough draft (notes) at various intervals during the
writing of your status report.
¥You will need to print out one copy of your
report to turn in and another copy for yourself as you are now the expert on
this disease. You will be using
your expertise during the panel discussion at the end of the grading period.
Your Status Report will be due on Tuesday,
November 30th.
