Automatic Bullets and Numbering: Turn on or turn off in current document
  Turn off permanently


To turn on bullets and numbering in the current document:

1. Open a Word document.



2. There are several ways to start numbering. Type
"1." follwed by one or two spaces then the text. After you press the return key and start typing, the line will automatically indent and number.
OR
In the Formatting Palette, under Bullets and Numbering, next to Type:, click the icon with the bullets or the icon with the numbers. When you start typing, the text will automatically be bulleted or numbered.
OR
You can also select (highlight) text and click the Bullets and Numbering icon to format that text with bullets or numbers.

 

 

 

 

 



To turn off bullets and numbering in the current document:

Select (highlight) text and in the Formatting Palette, under Bullets and Numbering, next to Type:, click the icon with the bullets or the icon with the numbers. The bullets or numbers will be removed.




To permenantly turn off bullets and numbering for all of your new documents:

1. Open a Word document.


2. From the menu bar at the top of the screen click Tools - AutoCorrect.


3. In the AutoCorrect box, click the tab at the top that says Autoformat As You Type.


4. In this window, deselect (uncheck) the boxes next to Automatic bulleted lists and Automatic numbered lists. Then click the OK button.
