Inserting Pictures in Microsoft WORD

  1. Open the drawing toolbar. (View -- Toolbars -- Drawing)

  2. Click on the Insert Picture icon.  
    (or from the menu bar click Insert -- Picture and then select an option from the drop down menu).

  3. To be able to move the picture, it needs "handles." Click on the picture one time.
    Click the 1st icon (draw) in the drawing toolbar and then click Format Picture.

    (Or double click the mouse on the picture or from the menu bar choose Format - Picture).

  4. Click the Layout tab at the top of the format picture window.
    Click on either the box labeled Square or the box labeled In Front Of (occasionally you may want one of the other choices).

  5. Click the OK button. The picture should now have "handles."

    Additional formatting options:

  6. If desired, In the Format Picture window, under Horizontal Alignment, choose Left, Center, or Right.

  7. If desired, In the Format Picture window, click the Advanced button at the bottom right.
    On the Advanced Layout page, there are additional options for picture Position and Text Wrapping.
