PSAT/NMSQT
The PSAT/NMSQT (Preliminary Scholastic Aptitude Test/National Merit Scholarship Qualifying Test) will be administered at Wheeling High School on Saturday, October 20, 2012. This test measures verbal reasoning, critical reading, math problem solving, and writing skills important for success in college.
WHY TAKE THE PSAT?
We encourage juniors who are in the top quarter of their class to take the PSAT because it identifies National Merit Scholars for the class of 2014and enables students who score at the highest levels to qualify for college scholarships.
The PSAT can also be used as a predictor for SAT scores. It allows students to compare their academic skills with those of other college-bound students. Register in Room 135 by Friday, September 21, 2012.
If you are entitled to testing accommodations, see Mrs. Kruty (Room 135) for additional information. The deadline for submitting Eligibility Forms and Documentation for the October 2012 PSAT/NMSQT is August 31.

SAT Information
Most colleges and universities accept both the ACT and SAT. The ACT is mandatory for students graduating from a public high school in Illinois as part of Prairie State Examination.
If you are considering a school on the east coast or west coast, you may decide to take the SAT. However, schools can review an ACT score and determine what the comparable SAT score would be.
The only District 214 high school that administers the SAT is John Hersey High School. Their Test Center Code is 195-320.
If you want your scores sent to Wheeling, use our School Code, 144-387.
There is a small supply of SAT registration packets in the College and Career Center/Student Services Room 163.
