Freshmen Mentor Training

To lead the incoming freshmen students to a successful adjustment to high school, upper classmen train during the summerThis year, with the help of Ignition Training Tour of Wisconsin and the efforts of Dr. Watson and Mrs. Hawkins, upper classmen were guided in how to help freshmen students to participate in a ropes course, where they get to know one another and understand the rules and the culture of the high school setting.

Freshmen Orientation

Each year, the freshmen class attends an orientation session lead by peer leaders.  The activities they participate in include introductory activities, a ropes course, a building tour, an assembly and a scavenger hunt.  In their seminar rooms, they are provided with their WHS planner and significant information they need to be successful on day one.

Freshmen Parent Orientation

Parents of freshmen students as well as parents of transfer students are invited to a one hour workshop to provide them with an overview of the Freshmen Orientation program and the expectations for success at Wheeling High School.  This program is conducted by the student services and administrative staff.
