Freshman Important Events:

Freshman Parent Night – Wednesday, August 9, 2017 6:00 p.m.  (students are encouraged to attend)

Parents of incoming 9th graders are invited to attend a Freshman Parent Night. The focus of the presentation is to provide parents with the school expectations, resources and the opportunities to work with the school and their child to promote academic success! The evening will begin in the gymnasium with a welcome address from Wheeling High School’s new principal, Mr. Jerry Cook. Parents will receive a Parent’s High School Survival Guide.

Freshman Orientation – STUDENTS ONLY – Friday, August 11th 8:00 a.m.

School buses will do their trial run that morning and pick students up at their bus stops. If you qualify for bus service, your student’s bus number and assigned  stop will be mailed to the home address. Once at WHS, freshmen will report to assigned rooms, which will be posted in the front and back hallways.  Students will then meet their Peer Mentors (upperclassmen who have been trained in supporting students in the transition to high school).  There will be classroom activities, an opportunity to follow your schedule, go to your locker as well as an Activity Fair, and a tour of the building. No lunch will be provided for the students. The buses will begin the return bus routes at 11:30 a.m.
