The Orchesis and Dance programs at Wheeling High School provide a place for creative and innovative individuals to grow.  The classes focus on creative projects,  group cohesion, improvisation and the technical skills of dance.  Orchesis members are chosen through a judicated audition consisting of a technique class, improvisation and a performance and choreography problem.  Professional dancers are brought in to provide an impartial assessment of the dancers' abilities.

Dance at Wheeling focuses on combining of art forms and cultures through the integration of the arts.  The goals are to make the program approachable and available to all students regardless of race, gender, or financial backgrounds.  By exposing students to the strengths of guest artists and choreographers, opportunities are provided within the school setting which would normally be unavailable.
