Our Mission

The mission of The Learning Center is to provide an environment that is conducive to learning and provides a positive atmosphere for students to work. The Learning Center is supportive of all academic endeavors and offers students help attaining the tools necessary to supplement their class instruction.

We at The Learning Center take the responsibility of being a peer tutor very seriously. The Peer Tutors are nationally certified through the World Book Peer Tutoring Basic Training Program, and further advance their tutoring ability through the National Tutor Association Tutorpalooza training.

Services

1. Drop in Peer Tutoring - one time help for a specific purpose;
   1. Need help with a homework assignment
   2. Need help studying for a test
   3. Need to have a paper proof read
2. Long term Peer tutoring - Assistance provided over a specific period of time to be evaluated
   1. Student are paired with a specific tutor for a period of time:
      1. Tutors work on skills and identified for improvement
      2. Tutors always work on study habits
      3. Students are evaluated at the halfway point and the end of the session to identify improvements or other areas of need.
3. A place to do homework in an atmosphere that promotes learning, where help is available if there are any questions
4. A place to take practice ACT Tests to identify areas of needed improvement prior to taking the test.

Monday & Friday 7:30- 2:50

Tuesday - Thursday 7:00 - 4:00
