Six students from Wheeling High School’s Nanotechnology classes in May competed in the Illinois Junior Academy of Science State Science Fair at Northern Illinois University.
To compete at this competition, students had to earn a qualifying score at the Regional Science Fair. At the state championship, all six students won gold awards and one student also won an additional Best in Category award.
Wheeling students Katherine Chong and Sean Dulkoski earned a Gold Award in the Environmental Science category. Hala Fakhoury and Matthew Hoffman earned a Gold Award in Environmental Science. Edward Hernandez earned a Gold Award in Material Science and Andy O'Grady earned a Gold Award and Best in Category in Zoology.
